Frequently Asked Questions

Your guide to understanding the Lubbock Game Changers indoor sports facility project.

Q:

What is Lubbock Game Changers?

A: Lubbock Game Changers is a nonprofit organization created by local residents with a mission to transform youth and community athletics in Lubbock—starting with a new, state-of-the-art indoor basketball and volleyball facility.

Q:

Is this a city-funded project?

A: No. The City of Lubbock is not contributing financially to the project. This is a public-private partnership in which the city has approved a land use agreement for the facility to be built on public park land. All design, construction, and operation costs will be 100% privately funded through our nonprofit’s fundraising efforts.

Q:

How are you raising $50 Million dollars?

A: We’ve launched a strategic, community-driven fundraising campaign backed by donors, sponsors, foundations, and partners who believe in the vision. The support we’ve received so far shows us that the need is real and the momentum is strong. This is about more than a building—it’s a long-overdue investment in our community’s youth and athletes.

Q:

What makes this different from other postponed projects?

A: We respect the challenges that other large projects have faced, as there are so many aspects the public does not see, but our project is unique. We’re not relying on bonds or public votes, and we’re focused on meeting a clear and immediate need with a well-organized, community-rooted plan. Our nonprofit model also ensures all revenue is reinvested back into the facility and community programs—not private profit.

Q:

What will the facility include?

A: The facility will feature multiple full-size basketball and volleyball courts, spectator seating, restrooms, locker rooms, community spaces, and areas for training, events, and open play. It’s designed to be flexible and multi-use, and will serve school programs, rec leagues, tournaments, and more. The most charming component is the Championship Arena that will feature the first permanent ASB Glass floor in Texas.

Q:

What happens to the money the facility earns?

A: As a nonprofit, every dollar generated from facility operations goes back into the facility upkeep, staffing, and community programming. That means scholarships, outreach programs, and free or reduced-cost opportunities for youth in need—all made possible by the same space that serves everyday players and teams. Stay tuned for announcements about our incredible programs.

Q:

Why focus on Basketball and Volleyball?

A: These sports are two of the most underserved when it comes to indoor space in Lubbock. We’ve seen consistent demand from players, parents, and coaches, and this facility is designed to directly address that need.

Q:

I'll believe it when I see it! Can this really happen?

A: We completely understand that reaction -- Lubbock has seen big promises before that didn't pan out. That's exactly why were doing things differently. This project is being developed through Lubbock Game Changers, a nonprofit organization, and it’s 100% privately funded. We’re building the facility on city park land through a land-use agreement, and our team has been laying the groundwork for more than a year. This isn’t just a dream—it’s already in motion, and we look forward to earning your trust as we go.
